Dr. Linwood PendletonLinwood Pendleton
Director

Dr. Pendleton is a Senior Fellow, Director of Economic Research, and the Director of the Coastal Ocean Values Center at The Ocean Foundation. He has published widely on issues of marine and coastal economics and policy and is a member of the Board of Advisors for the Conservation Strategy Foundation, a member of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission’s Marine Technical Advisory Council, and a Director of the Aquarium of the Pacific's Marine Conservation Research Institute. Before joining the Ocean Foundation, Dr. Pendleton was a tenured Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering at UCLA and retains an adjunct position there. Dr. Pendleton has advanced degrees in Ecology from Princeton, Public Policy from Harvard, and a doctorate from Yale's School of Forestry and Environmental studies. Allison ChanAllison Chan
Policy Analyst

A native of Pasadena, CA, Allison began her involvement with marine and coastal issues during her undergraduate experience at the University of Southern California. During that time, she had the opportunity to spend a semester at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island studying coastal and marine ecology. After living in San Francisco for year and working for the California Parks Foundation, she attended the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UC Santa Barbara. As a graduate student, Allison interned with the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary Program and the local non-profit Community Environmental Council. Allison earned her Master of Environmental Science and Management degree in June 2006 and began working with the Coastal Ocean Values Center in October 2006.

 

Sharon KhanSharon Khan
Program Associate for Development and Research

Sharon Khan is the Program Associate for Development and Research for the Coastal Ocean Values Center (COVC), assisting Director Linwood Pendleton in developing partner relationships and funding mechanisms, and in creating and facilitating communities of practice. Sharon also assists Dr. Pendleton and COVC’s research team with data collection and analysis. Sharon has an MSc in Applied Environmental Economics from Imperial College, London and a BA in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Before joining COVC, Sharon launched the Clean Water Economics Initiative with Waterkeeper Alliance and continues to work half-time as the Staff Economist for the Waterkeeper Alliance. Sharon has been an Economics Fellow at Waterkeeper Alliance and an intern with the World Health Organization’s South East Asia Regional Office of Water, Sanitation and Health in New Delhi India.
